About FMC Scan
FMC Scan is a free browser tool designed for competitors in the Fewest Moves Challenge (FMC) โ a discipline of speedcubing where solvers find the shortest possible sequence of moves to solve a Rubik's Cube from a given scramble. At WCA (World Cube Association) competitions, scrambles are printed on paper sheets. FMC Scan lets you photograph or upload that sheet and instantly extracts the scramble sequence using OCR, so you can focus on solving rather than copying down moves by hand.
Who is it for?
Any competitor taking part in a WCA FMC event โ whether you are a beginner trying Fewest Moves for the first time or an experienced solver chasing a sub-30 result. The tool also works well for practice sessions at home when studying scrambles from past competitions.
How to use it
- Capture the scramble โ tap Use camera to take a live photo, or tap Upload photo to pick an existing image of the scramble sheet.
- Run OCR โ press Read text from image. The tool sends the image to OCR.space and automatically detects the move sequence.
- Verify & use โ the extracted scramble appears in the Scramble field, the cube diagrams update in real time, and the inverse scramble is shown below. You can copy the scramble, share it via email or WhatsApp, or type in your solution to see the resulting cube state.
